Time and time again I have voiced my opinion on fake hunters showing off kills by standing over them feeling brave. Today after watching Netflix Documentary "Trophy" I felt the need of calling them out on their claims that "Trophy huntings help saving these animals". Its morally wrong and economically exaggerated claim. Let me tell you how. I grew up in a place where Lions are protected by Government and local people's efforts. In the early 1900s when hunting was very popular in Indian (and probably everywhere else), at one point only 12 lions were left in India. In May 2015, Asiatic Lion census reported that number to be around 523 (from Wikipedia). All this was done without getting money from any of those trophy hunters. All thats needed is firm actions by those who love these animals . We all know there's no bravery in using automatic weapons and claiming they're all for conservation. Leave the wild animals alone and may be donate that hunting money to help the conservation efforts. Killing animals to save them is not conservation! My suggestion to all those brave souls is to try hunting a lion with bare hands.
Update: Someone asked me for a reference article where lions are declared endangered. If you're unaware too please read the article here.
